ASMSI CEBU, MAKING WAVES In a day expected to be much busier, things gone right. Who would have thought that even if one Bus was not able to got back for the 2nd Trip in Mepz 1(Marina Mall), still ASMSI CEBU was a HUGE success. It marks as the first time ASMSI Cebu Gathering reach the peak of not just hundreds but a thousand plus alumni. Ate Analyn Hiloma of ASMSI office reportedly paid for about P26,000 to the sisters for the food which is calculated as P30 per head thus making it a 1,000 and plus registered graduate and making it the first time to reach the 1000 mark. In addition, also for the first time a total of eighteen(18), basketball teams submitted their registration thus making the sportsfest 2008 more competitive and busier. Also, the first time that most batch have their own teams and wear t-shirts with almost of same colors. The first time that we had the raising of banners, first time to have more games other than basketball and volleyball. Though, I did not open for a Possible Motorcade kay "Mahal ang Gasolina". Registration area where not so crowded as of 8:00am . And amidst some graduates who did not fully followed the rules implemented upon going inside the campus still, most of the graduate obeyed and were welcomed warmly. And who could remember Confessions? A lot of course. So a Confession was being scheduled in the Holland house. Thanks to the crowd control and other graduates who try to tell every graduates to be in the Gym before mass. And so to speak, controlling the crowd was not the priority but Minimizing and leading them to where they should stay, that they should be at one place and that place is the gym. A complement to some 12th batch and specially to 9th batch for the bamboo poles, making it stand for the raising of banners even if it was so hot and the Mass is just minutes ahead. The Holy Mass will always be on the schedule every time. And That Sunday, With the Gospel all about "the Great Harvest but the laborers are few". The Reverent Father who celebrated the Mass was telling some stories and lessons regarding who and what Laborers and harvest means. Comments (5) | Add as favourites (1) | Views: 150 |

The Alumni of the Sisters of Mary Incorporated (ASMSi) - Iloilo based graduates made their first Community Service Activity last June 1, 2008 at Barangay Bikil, Tubungan Iloilo. The Community Service Activities were teaching catechism, cleaning the Barangay plaza, feeding program, giving bags, books, clothes, medicines and school supplies and games for the children, as was decided and planned during the ASMSi - Iloilo monthly meeting last May 18, 2008. The said activity was proposed by the Tubungan subchapter led by Marites Longuino as President, they made a committee on every activity to ensure that every alumnus had their own duties and responsibilities.

The Community Service Activity started with our journey from Iloilo City to Tubungan together with Irish May Palomo and Marites Longuino, a 14th batch and 10th batch graduates respectively. Reaching Barangay Bikil after 2 hours we were welcomed by a 12th batch graduate who also happen to be the First Kagawad of the said barangay. Comments (14) | Add as favourites (1) | Views: 199 |

The Sisters of Mary Brand of Education By: Ethelbert B. Ouano Honestly, I was delighted when I got an invitation to deliver a short talk with you. A sudden longing to see old friends rushed into me. The fond memories enveloped me with a lingering embrace. I am excited and thrilled to see all of us here back once again. But, after a moment, while letting my thoughts settle, I realized that I will be talking to a crowd of sports enthusiasts. I got worried of what to say since I am not the sporty one. The sporty and the geek seem to be two contrasting identity that cannot be contained in one package. I am not a sports minded person. Sports don’t seem to love me. I never won any medal or award for any sports. However, I observed that the triumph in sports is very real and immediate. Please allow me to relate that on my triumphs on some quiz bowls, debates and moot court competitions. I would like to believe that perhaps, the feeling is somehow the same - jubilation after an arduous effort. Sporty or not so sporty minded, there are big names in sports today that leave a mark in our minds. They are the heroes who excel in their game. They are the legends who rise above the ordinary. Here in the Philippines, we have Manny Pacquiao, Efren “Bata” Reyes, Sonny Jaworksi and internationally we have Tiger Woods, Andre Agassi, Michael Jordan just to name a few. They have a certain signature move and ability that wowed the world. Their names are more than just an identity but a BRAND itself that means excellence and achievement in their craft. People know that they are good by their names alone. Comments (11) | Add as favourites (1) | Views: 199 |
